5 Top Shows for Teen Girls To Watch
Are you looking for the perfect binge-worthy show as a teen girl? Check out the following shows that follow a lot of high school drama, romance, comedy, fantasy, and thriller. There is something to watch for all types of tastes in entertainment.
The great thing is, you do not really have to be a teen to enjoy these, and they are worth watching as lighthearted entertainment. So, here are 5 of the best picks every teen girl should have on her watch list!
1. Teen Wolf
Year: 2011 to 2017 Genre: Fantasy, Horror, Drama, Action Seasons: 6 IMDb Rating: 7.7
Scott McCall, an introverted teen, ends up turning into a werewolf after being bitten. A series of events leads him to uncover the mystery of the bite. Things get serious as he is drawn into a war between the werewolves and human hunters. Slowly, his friends get involved and things turn stark for them all.
My thoughts: I liked the whole teenage fantasy drama, actions, and even romance. You see the group get older together, and there is a lot of character development, too.
You can watch it on Prime, and MGM. It might be added to Netflix globally, but do check; it might be available for you.
Note: Do keep in mind that seamless streaming is what really matters, as no one wants a bad mood with buffering going on. In these cases, I end up recommending my streaming and work internet partner, which is Spectrum, with its reliable services and availability across the U.S.
So far, I’ve moved once and found their services to be easily switchable and great overall. Even my flatmate Marina (A Latin American) got hooked and had no problems getting a Spectrum Internet en españolplan for her startup. Great pick!
2. The Vampire Diaries
Year: 2009 to 2017 Genre: Fantasy, Friendship, Romance, Drama, Action Seasons: 8 IMDb Rating: 7.7
The story follows the life of Elena Gilbert, a teenage girl in the town of Mystic Falls. She falls in love with Stefan, who is actually a vampire. As Damon (Stefan’s brother, also a vampire) comes into the mix, a years-old brotherly rivalry unfolds.
Other mysteries come undone where friends, family, and everything goes on the line for Elena. The story intertwines romance, revenge, legacies, and the battle between light and darkness.
My thoughts: Well, after Twilight, you’d be put off with vampires and all, but this one is worth it. The mysteries are great, the storylines (slow at times), but have development till the end.
It actually hurt to lose my favorite character, but I won’t be giving any spoilers, so watch it if you haven’t already, and you don’t have to be a teen because I was 20 when I started it.
3. Never Have I Ever
Year: 2020 to 2023 Genre: Teen Feelings, Friendship, Feel-Good Dramedy Seasons: 4 IMDb Rating: 7.8
The story revolves around the life of an Indian American girl (1st gen) and is inspired loosely by Mindy Kaling’s own childhood. The story follows the sudden death of Devi’s father, Mohan. Due to the shock, she was left in a paralysis and unable to walk.
She recovered with a miracle one day and stood, as she really wanted to see her crush Paxton Hall Yoshida. After having a bad first social year, she wished to change her status and life at school. But her family, friends, and feelings don’t make it an easy feat.
My thoughts: The humor gets dark in some places, and I really laugh hard in some. A great entertainment will keep you hooked to the struggles of Devi and her friends.
It tells you so much about life and that everyone has their own inner battles that wear one out, but it’s family and friends that give us hope.

4. Once Upon A Time
Year: 2011 to 2018 Genre: Drama, Fantasy, Fairy Tale, Mystery Seasons: 7 IMDb Rating: 7.7
This story follows the adventures of Emma Swan when she is reunited with her son Henry, whom she gave up for adoption 10 years ago. Henry convinces Emma that she is the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming, which he found out from an ancient-looking book of tales.
Emma goes through the fictional town of Storybrooke to unravel many mysteries about her deep connection with the town and its residents. Many battles ensue in the fight for truth, and many sacrifices are made. Will Emma take on her role or keep denying the apparent truth? You’ll have to watch this to find out.
My thoughts: The story is amazing and kept me hooked. But honestly, I lost track at season 5 and never got to the end. I hate cliffhangers, and I remember I was at one writing this now, so I’ll be watching it as I go home for the day.
The story and the character development are great. Plus, it takes inspiration from Disney and its characters to make a show a nostalgic yet adds so much new to the age-old stories.
5. Stranger Things
Year: 2016 to Present Genre: Horror, Drama, Thriller, Mystery Seasons: 5 IMDb Rating: 8.6
A group of friends (kids) witnesses supernatural elements. They come across a girl named Eleven. With her, the encounters start getting livid and soon very real.
The plot deepens when their friend disappears. A lot happens from then on, and the kids have to involve their parents in the mix that leads to a secret of the government and a series of illegal experiments.
The path that showed clarity leads to the Upside Down (a parallel dark world), whose biggest monster tries to take over the town and maybe even the world.
My thoughts: Ah! The other side, or the upside down, does give you the creeps. The monsters, in my opinion, aren’t scary, but the plot is great. Though there could have been some improvement in the plot and storyline flow, the show does keep you hooked.
Plus, I like the cultural and timeline reference from the 1980s pop too. Can’t wait for the new season.
This ends our list of the movies you should be watching if you’re a teen girl, but I don’t believe these shows have a limit on age and depend more on your taste. They have all sorts of feelings etched in them and their characters, which are worth exploring.
So, give them a watch and let us know your thoughts about them, and which was your favorite show or character.
